The Field Weeks
CITs are required to complete at least 1 Field Week, but are encouraged to come back for as many additional weeks as they can in order to gain as much experience as possible to be able to be a top consideration as a member of the camp staff the following year. Field Week ‘A’ is the first week of program a CIT participates in, and is where throughout the week they travel to every area in camp, including Cub Scout Adventure Camp, the Trading Post, and Dining Hall/Kitchen, to work in each area for one of the morning or afternoon periods. The goal is for them to learn how each and every area operates, work with Scouts and staff on delivering TVSR’s high quality program, and also learn which area they might want to work at if they decide to apply for camp staff the following year.
Any additional weeks of program CITs come to are known as Field Week ‘B’. This is where the CIT chooses their favorite 2 areas in camp, and work in those areas for the week (ex: Waterfront every morning, BSI every afternoon). The goal of Field Week ‘B’ is for CITs to advance their skills in specific program areas, making them strong candidates to work in those areas in future years.
Admittance to all consecutive weeks are contingent upon satisfactory review scores from previous week, and camp administration reserves the right to dismiss a CIT at any time for insubordinate or unproductive behavior.
