Dining Hall
Allergies and Dietary Needs
Food is such an important thing in the Summer Camp experience, so we try to provide the best service possible to everyone. If you have a Scout that has a food allergy or a medical dietary restriction, our kitchen can accommodate most needs. In order to ensure your Scout is taken care of to the best he can be, it is important that all dietary restriction information be clearly disclosed on the Scout’s medical form. Then on the first day, during check-in, everyone has a stop with the camp nurse for the health checks, there, the Scout should verify their dietary needs with the nurse.
Camp Menu
Four your unit’s planning purposes, we have a sample menu available here . This menu may vary slightly as we approach camp, but it can be a great planning tool for units.
Service (Waiters and Meal Logistics)
On the first day of camp, during check-in, every unit will stop at our dining hall and meet with our Dining Hall Steward who will walk units through what the dining hall services are and what a troop needs to do before meals to prepare.
TVSR runs family style meals, meaning units will sit together in the dining hall, and a unit selected, pre-designated waiter will bring food to the table for their unit. What this requires is that units select waiters before the meal, have them arrive about 15 minutes early, and the Steward will tell them what they need to set the tables, and what they will need to bring to the tables during meals. Don’t worry, the first meal at camp, Sunday dinner, TVSR staff will wait all the tables so you need not preplan that meal .
New Award at Camp
Golden Broom Award
Our Camp Commissioner will be making rounds to all campsites each day to do a walk through in which units will receive a score based on how neat the site is kept. You don’t want to be known as the messiest unit in camp, so duty rosters and the patrol method can be your guide to success. Decorating your campsite to go with the camp theme of Scouts of the Round Table is a recipe for bonus points.
Score Sheets for this award, as well as the Honor Camper, Honor Unit, and Baden Powell Awards are located in the back of the BSRC Leader Guide available on the Downloads page.
